Any new software updates coming?

Post by Jesder »

Just curious if there are any future code updates planned for BoP 2.0?

I'm currently running 1.19 and it feels really good. I'm enjoying it a lot.

I have noticed a couple of occasions where two balls have been served up during ball save, which I'm thinking may be some sort of bug in the game code.

I've sent an email to join the Beta testing program, but haven't heard anything back so not sure if it's still active. It's promising though to see two updates released this year.

Is the game code now considered complete? or will be be seeing a few new features / fixing in the upcoming months?

Hi Jester,

Seeing as I (programmer) don't currently work for DP and don't have a BoP2.0 myself it's unlikely you'll see updates any time soon.
I think DP considers BoP2.0 to be done, but if any clearly defined bugs are defined and reported they may be fixed in the future.

Best regards,

Koen,

Thanks for all your work on this game. I was actually just playing it and thought I'd check in.

Jesder,

I think I've seen the problem you're describing. It seems like if I plunge the ball immediately after it is released into the shooter the lane, a second ball will be kicked out. I'm guessing the software is thinking that the first ball was not successfully ejected, but I'm just guessing.

Is this happening to you a lot? If so, I would wait a second before plunging after a ball save. Of course, if I'm correct, that won't prevent someone from exploiting this bug.

Thanks Koen. If I can get some consistent behavior on the bugs, I'll report it with steps to reproduce.

Thanks too for all your work on the game - I'm loving the new rule set and found 2.0 to be incredibly fun to play.

Yes, that's what I'm seeing. I think it's when the ball drains via the left or right outlane. It kicks a ball out into the shooter lane very quickly, before the ball has actually drained to the outhole kicker. If I shoot the ball in to play too quickly (before the last one hits the trough), a second ball can be kicked out into the shooter lane.

For now, I wait a couple of seconds to ensure the drained ball has arrived in the trough before launching the saved ball into play and this prevents the issue. So it's not a show stopping bug and does have a work around, but would be good to see this prevented as the software should be able to register a ball has hit the shooter lane switch during ball save to prevent another ball being served up.

If i can find time over the weekend, i'll see if I can reproduce it more clearly - but I believe in the cases where I have seen it occur, it's due to launching the ball back into play in the time between where the ball draining in the left/right outlane and activating the switch in the out hole.
