my dialing in laundry list

Post by sdtom »

after a few people mentioned having issues with the ramp diverter resting position; i took careful look this morning while playing mine. And, even though there hasn't been actuation problems.. I saw it basically free rotate slightly with every pop bumper hit to the point it was resting on ramp sometimes, forward of the slot. The solenoid pulls it through anyway when actuated, but wondering if some of my ball hangups might be some ramp vibration from the diverter trying to get pulled down but first hitting the plastic (no support in that area, so could see the movement carrying further). Ball sometimes airballs ABOVE the ramp and lands on the ball guard and dribbles back.

I am not sure how the felt against back wall (the current pinside solution) would help though as on mine the diverter free rotates FWD of the slot, not behind the slot?

The other things I may take time to try to dial in over weekend:
- A clean maude shot will most often bounce back out the maude shot. Going to look at the gate to see if it's rubbing or anything that might slow it falling back down after the ball passes through
- Car Stepper is not a smooth movement, very stuttery / probably at the full step points on the motor.
- Ball launcher stepper, when it swings all the way right it's hitting the stop and trying to keep moving (so vibrates against the stop)
- The 'U' in Maude, on mine it's typically the where the ball needs to go for the skill shot. Doesn't register *sometimes* as skill shot, but seems to register most other times. So going to look at that switch to see if anything to adjust on that; doubt it's software unless other people have that problem.
- Bowling loop on the upper playfield. I'm not sure if it can be made smooth/quick, but right now it definitely clunks against something at the exit from the bowling alley and dribbles out (imagine it's the kickout or the inside of the bowling alley exit itself) It's actually improving my game since it gives me time to prepare, but I'm assuming (perhaps wronging) that it should be a smooth loop

Question if DP is watching; these steppers seem to all be moving in Full Step mode if I had to guess.. possible to use some microstepping (i haven't yet gotten nerdy enough to look at the IC running the steppers)? lose some torque but none of these applications require tons of torque, but might smooth things out?

Already dialed in:
- Rug; it's working perfectly right now

Ok, first item is the bowling mech. Troubleshooting this morning, what seems wrong to me is the bowling mech right EOS switch triggers in middle of stroke. Emailing support for whether that is normal/not normal (if its normal, that switch needs to be renamed lol). Also trying to get disassembly advice.

In case anyone else is messing around in same area while we wait
- Behavior in Test mode:

- Behavior in Switch Test mode / ignore everything after i go up to the display (second 25 or so in) as I didn't end up doing anything useful up there
