SD tom and I were PM'ing on Pinside about this and thought I would post here.
Thanks to Pinside members r6emperor and pdxmonkey for the tips, and knockerlover for the extra eyes and hands with the adjustments.
The switch I adjusted is between the plate and the playfield. When you pull the playfield up, you'll notice the rug (roller part) on the top of the playfield will sag down by gravity from the playfield up. With the game off, and the playfield up, gently push on the rug roller on the top of the playfield. You can hear the switch actuate. Mine needed a good push to actuate the switch. I removed the two screws that hold the switch, (tiny nuts on the back) and bent the blade of the switch up. this eliminated any spacing/play between the roller plate and the switch. Then installed the switch farther back in the openings on the switch mounting plate.
Adjusting the switch---once the blade is adjusted. I held the rug in the position its in when the playfield is down. Basically hold the rug where it won't sag from the gravity of the playfield being up. Then move the switch up to a point where when you put a little pressure on the rug (like a ball hitting it) you hear the switch activate. First adjustment I made was way too close, and didn't work right. With the long openings for the two screws holding the switch in, it makes adjusting these a little easier. it took us 3 tries to get it right on. And it was a lot easier having an extra set of hands.
The rug is working great now.

Hi Burningman,
thanks for those instructions. I just did the same on my TBL and it seems the rug is now registering hits much more consistently.
I still wonder why they didn´t go for a Eddy board there. I sure hope I don´t have to adjust that switch regularly.....

Hey Guys,
We are working on some support documentation for issues that occur more often than others. One of them is the Rug Hit detection.
In some older games, it is possible that the switch isn't mounted properly; this might be due to shipping. We are fixing this in production, so it shouldn't happen anymore in the future.
However, if you have problem with the Rug detection, please download this document:
http://www.dutchpinball.com/support/Rug ... %201.0.pdf
This document shows how to troubleshoot, fix and align the rug hit switch.
Please let us know if this fixes the issues, or if you have any other questions concerning the hit detection of the Rug: support@dutchpinball.com.
Thanks,
Barry
