Game resets?

Post by sdtom »

Game has been running perfectly as I've been dialing in the elements.

However starting this weekend, and with somewhat increasing frequency, the game is resetting during play :( I thought I heard at least one other person was having this issue and wondering if they resolved it.

Twice in a row just now:
- Powered Game on (so, not overheating or anything)
- Starts game
- After about 5 shots, flippers die, music dies; LEDs still working
- ~10 seconds later get Ubuntu desktop / black
- ~10 seconds later get "P-ROC not found"

I haven't had a 3rd time; need to go back to work now .. double :(

connectors in good? did you get it resolved?

I know the one that CT has reset on me in multiball one time, but that was in a show environment...

Checked all the connectors; they are solid. Game has degraded further and isn't playable now; will reset every game after a few minutes of playing.

Support request submitted; here's what I documented, and this was just after I went around making sure all the connectors were solid.
Organized Testing done this morning:
- Left in attract mode for 5 minutes - no resets
- Left game active but not playing for 5 minutes - no resets
- Started playing game where I just launched ball and let it drain (so, activity just really the pop bumpers / auto launcher). I got to game 2 and the game froze and reset.

Reset looks like:
- First LEDs freeze
- ~5 seconds later Ubuntu Desktop
- Software re-launches with 'P-ROC not found / check power + connection' error.
- This last time this morning; I notied the P-ROC blue LED (that you can see through the bowling alley window) is out now. Earlier this morning when I was just play testing, the blue P-ROC led remained on.

This is the same experience while playing, but on ball one.

Further, after the above test:
- Power Cycle 1 - Blue P-ROC led still didn't come on / made it to 'Check PROC screen again'
- Power Cycle 2 - Blue P-ROC led did come on AND I heard the cooling fan on the power fan kick in for a few seconds at power on (this seems normal), which I did not on power cycle 1; stuck at ubuntu bootloader screen for a while, and game software booted.
